Well the year has finally came to an end. Our presentation turned out to be pretty good overall. I think the group and I really meshed together really well and I think that is why this project went so smoothly. We had our speed bumps along the way thanks to the coronavirus. But a few headaches later and we are finally done with the semester. Just a few minor little things that I could have changed personally was adding a video to the presentation but with the events that happened I was unable to do that unless the video was going to be really bad from the back side. But I couldn’t have asked for a better group on this project and I hope they say the same about me. We never had any issues within the group. That is why I think we did so well on this project in the end. I hope all of this is over so I can see everyone back at Andersen when the fall semester comes around in August but if not, hopefully we can keep pushing through this very difficult time and stay safe. This class taught me a lot going forward that I will use in my everyday life in the work place.

This week we participated in our practice presentation and it actually went very good. It was a huge sigh of relief being told that our presentation was one of the more prepared out of the class. There were a few different things that I personally need to fix and it mostly just has to do with my pictures and having them lined up and not as blurry. That will be a very easy fix considering the location of my pool table is in my basement. But I also need to create about a 10 to 15 second video of me just playing some pool as well. But all together our whole team was very pleased with how the site looks and the feedback we got was very good as well.
For my contribution in the project I did my page on the pool with my pictures as well as my introduction on the home page. Also in the process of place a picture of Andersen Hall on the website as well. But as a team we have really done a good job of holding ever one accountable. I feel like that is why our website was in such a good place when we had our practice exam as well.
This week during our meeting we just briefly discussed our extra credit opportunity which will be pretty nice to have all around. Then we went into detail about the project as well and we have all gotten our feet wet with the content and media which is a big step in the process. I am still needed to shoot just a little bit more media to make sure that I can get the right steps into showing the best content for our website. The lighting down in my basement isn’t the best and I’m just using my IPhone to shoot the footage so it isn’t the best picture but I’m slowly trying to find ways to make it look a little better. It’s a slow process trying to figure out the best way for the media to be produced with limited equipment but this is part of the process that needs to get done so it will just have to be something I find a solution for. But other than that everything is going over very well and it is all coming together nicely, I just need to upload it to the website which I am hoping to do on Sunday so we can be prepared for our practice presentation on Tuesday.
This week was a little hectic for me. I did miss our zoom meeting due to some conflicts that took place at work that I couldn’t control. However I did get a little bit of my project done and taken care of. I have slowly started created a video to get my pool game kicked off for this project. It is going nicely it really pays off to have the pool table in my basement so it is very easy to access it whenever I feel the need to work on it. This will be a very good thing when it gets down to crunch time and when we need to fix some things after our practice presentation. After looking at some of my groups work it is easy to see that we are making pretty good progress on this project and we can tell that things are going to be nice and smooth once we get to the practice presentation stage. Making the change on our topic really made things a lot easier on us as well. It gave us a little more room of what we can talk about allowing us to do something that were comfortable with as well. It will be good to see what we come up with.
On Tuesday after talking with Kaci we really decided to brainstorm our ideas about what we were going to talk about for our project. And considering of my situation with Self Quarantine I decided that since I have a pool table in the basement of my house that it would be the best idea to kind of discuss the different game of pool and how to play the game. Some people don’t know the exact rules of the game or that there are many different kinds of games you can play. This will be easy considering I don’t have to go anywhere besides my basement. However, I’m still trying to figure out exactly what kind of media I am going to use in this situation as well. But a lot of the will come into mind as I start brainstorming the project. I think the project for our group will go good even though we decided to switch our topic because of the situation we were in. I believe some of my team members have already completed their projects so I plan on getting mine all taken care of next week so we can begin on the website and practice for our final presentation which is taking play during Finals Week.
It has been a fairly stressful couple of days between becoming self-quarantined, having classes start back up again, and lastly deciding to start over on our project due to the circumstances with COVID. We have decided to change our project to things you can do with under this self quarantine/ during the COVID. With me being absolutely quarantined at the moment it is difficult for me to decided what it is I will talk about, whether it is Netflix shows or maybe being a movie critic about movies that have recently came out. It is tough for me to decided at the moment but I will think about it throughly this weekend to see what will be the best option for out team to ensure that we get this project done to its full extent. Going forward I believe that these zoom meetings with Kaci will be very productive in giving us our options about what we will be looking at in the final weeks of this semester which is actually kind of crazy. But as a team we are keeping in touch and making sure that we are doing everything to the best of our abilities.
This week was a very interesting one to say the least. I had to present my storytelling project on Tuesday and I was lucky enough to have someone else with the same one. It overall was a very good website but it needed to have a few more features in my opinion. I was hoping they could have used actual video to maybe see the skyscrapers in the skyline of London. But I did like how the website itself actually worked. It really gave us an interesting view and facts about the sky line itself.
As for the group project, it was a hectic week and we are scrambling a little right now but we have everything under control. We will be able to capture media however it will be without one of our group members who will be moving back to Chicago. But we will find a way to get everything worked in and it will work perfectly fine to give us the best chance possible to get everything in order. I believe about 4 of us will still be in the area so we can go back to the rink in order to capture some more media but hopefully it isn’t closed due to the virus.
Looking back at the first part of the semester as a team we have really capitalized on getting a good head start of what we have ahead of us. We are all working very delightedly and have a great grasp on this Ice Skating project. Our group has really meshed well to create a good team. The only obstacle I see coming with us is all of us finding the time to get to Breslow in order to get some more media of us getting on the Ice again but I feel like we will all work together to make sure that it happens again.
This week we did our paper and we all individually selected a part of the paper to write. As for me I selected the first meeting we had at the rink and how it went for us. I discussed how I felt it went and some things we can do to improve. We just needed to work on our media work, but we took care of all that in class on Tuesday to allow us to be able to use the Osmo and the GoPro. I see us doing just fine come presentation time as well.
After watching the presentations this week, there were a lot of cool websites that were presented. The one that really caught my eye was the website that talked about the 30 endangered animals. It was a really cool website and it was interesting to see how it presented itself. All the moving pieces that were brought into this website really showed me how creative you can get while making a website.
As for our project we did our first visit to the ice rink and it was quite interesting. It was the first time I have ever ice skated before and it showed very quickly. It was but 2 minutes and I was rolling around on the ice because I wasn’t much of a skater. But then I discovered they have like walkers but for the ice which was monumental in me actually looking like I knew what was going on. We did have some slight technical problems. We couldn’t figure out how to get the camera itself to remain still. But turns out all we needed was a smaller phone to make it work. SO when we go back a 2nd time we will be more prepared. Also we brought a camera and a GoPro but turns out that the GoPro needs s special SD card so we will have to go out and get one of those if we feel like we need to use that. The camera that we used had some problems focusing and the lens wasn’t the best. But in the end we created a few ideas and it will lead us into our project paper that is due next week.
