Week Two

This week, my group got together and got introduced to each other. We started by setting up a way for us to communicate with each other outside of class. We chose to utilize Group-me, as it is similar to texting and we would get a notification right away on our phones. We also started to set up this blog, and ensured we all got access to it. We had some trouble at first with making sure we all had access to publishing without having to send it through the “admin”, but after a quick posting test, we figured it out.

Also during our short meeting time, we started discussing how we wanted to set up our contract. We decided it would be the “safer” route to create a more detailed, worded contract in the unfortunate case one of the group members does not carry their weight at a point in the semester.

During our first meeting, we also began discussing some ideas for our project. We did not discuss for too long, but we collectively decided we wanted to do something fun together, and it came to us learning/doing something together over the course of the semester. We also decided we wanted to do something that none of us have done before, or something that none of us are experts in. We still do not know exactly what that is, but we are planning on doing some more brainstorming soon. We also haven’t got to know each other too well yet, so our interests haven’t fully been discussed yet.

Week 2 Blog Post

Katie Squier

When we got assigned to our group the firs thing that we did was set up the blog. I took the initiative to create the website and am still learning how to work the ins and outs of the blog. Something that I might have changed was not messing with the blog layout. I tried to change some of the layout and now I think the blog site itself is becoming more of a challenge than I would have hoped.

Next, we created a GroupMe for our team. It is clear that throughout the semester we will need to work together and communicate a lot. By creating the GroupMe for our team, that will help create an open conversation for whatever we need to discuss for our project over the course of the semester.

Once we got the logistical things ready to go for the semester we began to brainstorm for what we wanted to do for our project.

Some ideas that we had were:

  • Learning to ice skate together
  • Bowling at the East Campus Union
  • Baking a cake together

We know that we want to have an experience together so it is only a matter of deciding what we want to do together. I am looking forward to this semester and using what I have learned in the previous Visual Communications classes and creating a super awesome project with my group.
